Post Selection Reflections, Student Ceiling Art

So yesterday, I wrote up a kinda hasty post about my stuff getting selected for an upcoming exhibit.
All that is fine and dandy, but I'm afraid I sounded a bit flippant about my stuff getting in.
First of all, I want to say that anytime your work gets accepted into something like this, it's an honor.
I mean, your work was selected by a juror, a peer(hopefully), so it's a bit of an accomplishment.
I'm really happy.
Sort of.
I mean I'm as happy as I would be sad if my stuff wasn't selected.
What I'm trying to say is that if my work didn't get in, I would be sad, but not that sad.
See the thing is, I also know what getting rejected feels like.
I thought about this as I remembered that yesterday, when I went to pick my works up, there were also some folks there who were given the news that they didn't get in.
Believe me, I've been there too.
While it's not a great feeling to be turned down(TD'ed), you sort of have to take it with a grain of salt and keep moving on.
Not let it get you down.
On the other hand, you shouldn't let the fact that you made it into a show make your head swell up so ginormously that you can't walk through a doorway.
Personally, if I got any more of an ego boost, my head would explode:

I try to take the success with a grain of salt too.
One show does not a prima donna make.
I mean just because I got into one show does not mean I'll suddenly be climbing hills with speed and grace.
Or something like that.
Speaking of climbing hills, I finally got back on the bike today and managed thirteen miles. I was going to try some hills, but I have no lungs and my legs didn't seem to come back until mile ten.
How quickly I am brought down from god-like status to a mere huffing and a puffing mortal.
I did manage to pick up some kim chee, cheese rolls, and a cream soda:

I also changed the batteries in my camera and got some pics of some ceiling art in one of the classrooms I work in.
I think it used to be a science class or something for most of the works are themed as such. Looks like they were done in oil pastels or something and were probably done a long time ago as there is a rule now about defacing state property.
Since we've been on an astronomy kick lately, I picked out some appropriate ones:

Now that, my friends, is art.

It's either art or the kim chee talking...

I don't know if you'd like me talking about art after eating kim chee.
