UFT III: Up Close

Okay, everything is done on the UFT III.
Well, except for the epoxy thing. I'll do that later.
Sorry for the junk images, I forgot to change the light settings on the camera.
Here goes:



I wanted the body to sit lower, but I didn't plan ahead so I was sort of stuck at this height. I'm making some chuck thingys at different heights for later.
Front view:



The handle warped to the side in the firing. As I said before, clay has some memory so these things happen. Same for the wheels, they sort of dried a bit crooked.
This time, I wanted the handle to be more interesting, so I made a sort of eye thingy:



I was thinking of actually making it look like an eyeball, but decided to go with the mirrored look.
I think it turned out pretty well.
A carryover from the UFT II are some portholes.
No cracked glass this time:

Nozzlicious!



I sort of forgot to add detail to the insides of the nozzles, so I just splashed some red in there to make it interesting. Didn't really work.
Running lights, like on the UFT II:



I wanted to do some of the gold lustre around the lights like bezels, but I was running a little low on the lustre and didn't want to start not knowing if I could finish the whole thing.
Finally:



I don't know about you, but with that landing gear, I think it looks crab-like. Next time, I'll make the struts straight.
It also sort of reminds me of a tank. I think the spouts needs some kind of curve to it.
Just for fun.
For me, the UFT II has more character. I did this one to be cleaner and more slick. I like the derelict idea for it allows me to add more detail.
Now that the pressure is off, maybe I'll do one more:
The Junkyard UFT.
I finally got an idea for a cycling related teapot, but I haven't worked out all the details yet. It's a take off on a design that a bunch of people have done already so I'm not sure if I want to go there. Still, it should be amusing.
I also got some new ideas for some more mugs, still using the gears.
I should be able to get to some of them this weekend.
