Building the Temple

Of the Holy Oracle of the Copper Red.
Copper red being a glaze formulated out of copper oxide and a bit o'tin.
More on that later.
Oh yes, the construction of the ceramic Parthenon has begun.
Sort of.
Today, we got some wood together and started to put together the frame over the kiln:

There's two of the posts already up.
The goal was to get the four posts up and standing, so next week we can work on leveling the structure and figuring out exactly how the temple will look.
Thankfully, there's a concrete slab the kiln is sitting on so all we had to do was get some L brackets, drill the slab, and bolt them beams upright.
Then, using metal brackets again, we laid another beam across the top:

This was a bit tricky as we realized the concrete slab was not flat, but leaning to one side.
It was sort of too late as the four beams had already been bolted down.
We wanted to the roof to lean a bit for run-off, just not in that particular direction, so we'll have to go back at it again next week and figure out what to do.
Until then, we just braced everything up:

You know, just enough to make sure the Big Bad Wolf won't be able to blow the temple down.
Hopefully next week we'll be able to finish up the frame and put up the roof.
Meanwhile, the sacrificial Fruity Snacks and salami are being prepared:

You know, for good luck.
Once the temple is finished, we just have to hook up the gas and off we go!
I hope.
I guess this means I'll actually have to make something so that we'll have some stuff to test fire.
Maybe some bowls or something.
I'll have to makes some glazes too, so that will be interesting.
Oh yeah baby!
Art is happening soon.
Or something.
